I don't think anyone will disagree that automatic trannies "typically" lose more HP through the drive train than manual trannies. But this can easily be avoided by locking the torque converter 1:1, it will be just like a manual tranny since it won't have the slip that an auto tranny normally has. I think everyone knows that auto trannies are faster since we can buld boost at the line. Also, I think everyone who has an understanding of how the auto tranny works realizes that it will lose more unless you lock it 1:1.
